A Letter From Libby

This is the launch of my new quilt pattern company. I have been dreaming about this for a very long time. I designed and made my first quilt over 20 years ago, for my daughter Penny. It was a beautiful appliquéd unicorn, done in satins and brocades. I knew nothing about quilting, just that I wanted her to have a special bed covering for her new room. She loved that quilt to death. I had the time of my life designing that quilt and when I finally completed the last hand stitch, I was thrilled.

Well, years passed and life became busy and I pretty much forgot all about that quilt and quilting. Then my husband and I moved to Alaska in 1996 with my daughter and granddaughter, and I was reintroduced to the world of quilting. Again I found myself in love with the process of designing and seeing the images in my mind come to life. I learned so much and continue to learn about the art of quilting. I have attended many classes over the last few years. I have especially enjoyed those presented by Marylou Weidman, Judy Dales and Deb Hardman.

Living in Alaska has definitely been an inspiration to my quilts. I love depicting nature and its beauty. I have tried to design with all quilters in mind and believe that these patterns are not only fun, but can be done many different ways. I encourage everyone to put their own personalities into these quilts.

I want to thank my husband Michael for his never ending patience, my daughter Penny for her dedication to my website, my granddaughters Taylor and Caela for their constant inspiration, and my sister Judy (she is a superb quilter) for her encouragement and support. Oh and of course all my other sister quilters and seamstresses, Jacqui, Mary, Kathleen, Joleen, Brenda, Barbara, and oh so many more.
